Profile: Matthew S. Zinman

Matthew S. Zinman is president Z Communication, Inc., a full-service marketing firm in Newtown, PA that leverages its "collaborative network" of more than 250 marketing partners to shape its services to fit each client's specific needs. Matthew is a leading advocate and innovator of the partner network model, which came about as a result of gaining more than 15 years of experience in traditional marketing agencies of all sizes. He explains that, "There's just a better way to do better work and still do it for less. We keep our overhead low to provide clients with more seasoned professionals with the right skills and industry expertise. Traditional agencies in this region often struggle to serve clients well enough because they simply don't have the margins to keep their top people focused on all priorities. They also have less flexibility to provide needed expertise and must combat high turnover that too often diminishes the 'knowledge equity' of most value to clients."

However, Matthew knows that Z Communication's collaborative network can only work best if there's a constant focus on maintaining operational excellence. This is why he personally qualifies account team members to ensure that each reflects the firm's best-of-breed requirements. He also serves as Chief Strategist to be actively involved in all work.

Matthew's professional experience has involved more than 60 clients in a wide range of business-to-business, consumer, financial and healthcare organizations. His work in various marketing, PR, advertising and brand identity agencies has involved a variety of communication practices.

This included: facilitating large-scale product launches for Microsoft Corp., Siemens Health Services, and Bristol-Myers Squibb Company; managing employee relations programs for Comcast Business Solutions, Elementis Specialties, Inc. and Church & Dwight Co., Inc. (the maker of Arm & Hammer® brand products); organizing special events for Warner Bros. Studios, Chemical Bank, and Midas; overseeing booth design and trade show management for Laporte, Inc. (parent company of various specialty chemicals companies); and strategically guiding brand identity and positioning efforts for Daniel Insurance Agency, NewCourtland Elder Care network, Peterson's Publishing, and Snider Capital, LP. He also volunteered for eight years to help manage what is now Wachovia's US PRO Cycling Championship event.

For nearly three years, Matthew worked as the PR Director for The Brownstein Group (TBG), a fully integrated brand identity agency where, under his leadership, the PR department quadrupled its business and the personnel to serve it. Prior to TBG, Matthew worked for six years at Harris, Baio & McCullough, where he advanced to Vice President of the Commercial PR Management Group. He also spent two years at Ketchum, one of the nation's top five multi-national agencies. Matthew's other professional experience includes four years promoting films for Warner Bros. Studios and serving as a promotions assistant for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Matthew is very active in the PR/Marketing professional community. He volunteers for the American Marketing Association, and is active in the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the Philadelphia Public Relations Association, and the Institute of Management Consultants. Matthew also completed the Institute of Advanced Advertising post-graduate course developed by the American Association of Advertising Agencies, which helped develop his proficiency in all marketing disciplines. Matthew has published numerous articles on public relations and marketing topics for various trade and business publications, and he is a frequent lecturer, particularly among various universities in the Philadelphia region.
